Transparent stickers are see through. That means the surface, on which the stickers are applied, shines through. This could eventually lead to colour changes of your print design, as the stickers are printed with glazed colours (Euroskala, no special colour). Please note: All white surfaces are not printed and appear transparent.
How do I calculate the grammage - for example for letterheaded paper? Open
The grammage correlates to the thickness of the material. The thicker the paper, the heavier it is and often times…
The grammage correlates to the thickness of the material. The thicker the paper, the heavier it is and often times the higher does the quality feel. The provided grammage of print products describes the weight of a 1m² standard sheet (A0).
Our recommendation: Flyers can also be used with a lower grammage (approx. from 135 gsm) depending on the application area. Business cards should always be ordered in a high grammage (e.g. 400 gsm). This weight corresponds to:
- 400 gram = 1 m²
- 1 business card = 8.5 cm x 5.5 cm (also 0.00468 m²)
This makes up the weight of the business card:
- 1 business card = 1.87 g
With the help of the paper weight calculator the paper weight is approximately calculated. The weight refers to that of unprinted paper. Depending on the colour saturation different values and weights result, which can deviate from the results of the paper weight calculator. Therefore these should preferably not be used for calculation of quantities of individual products.

The gold paper is a coated fine paper with metallic effect on both sides. All colourless surfaces appear gold. The brighter the colours, the more intense the golden effect.
To achieve an optimal colour saturation on black areas, a deep black colour can be created by adding in another colour component.
Example: cyan 60 %, magenta 40 %, yellow 20 %, black 100 %. Depending on your requirements, different ink components can be added until the maximum coverage of the product (here 260 %) is achieved. This is not recommended for texts and lines since slight gaps may occur.

The perfect binding is used for the manufacturing of magazines, brochures or books. During the process the body of the book is glued at the back and then glued with a cover. This way a compact and durable magazine is created. A special type of perfect binding is the PUR perfect binding with polyurethane glue. This process is considered a very high-quality method and is perfectly suitable for products that are subject to heavy use. The glue is fully cured and the biggest strain is finished after 48 hours.

The wood-free offset paper has a matt, uncoated and glued surface. The colour of the print on the offset paper does not appear as saturated as on coated paper. Due to the uncoated surface there could be a busy-looking colour application on larger, smooth surfaces. So, please create your designs in a slightly lighter tint than usually. This helps retain contrast and image sharpness.

It is made from 100 % recycled paper. The paper has a high degree of whiteness and has the characteristically slight grey look of eco-friendly papers. The paper absorbs a high amount of colour, because the surface is open-pored and uncoated. Consequently, there could be some busy-looking colour application for dark, full surface designs. So, please create your designs in a slightly lighter tint than usually. This helps retain contrast and image sharpness.

We offer the additional numbering option for duplicate pads, tickets or plastic cards.
For tickets the continuous numbering is available from 000.001. - 300,000. We use the font "OCR 11x7” in 15 pt (letter size 4 mm).
For the duplicate pads we use the font “Block” in 12 pt (letter size 4.5 mm). The continuous numbering is available from 000001 to 999999. Due to technical reasons a six-digit number (e.g. 000001 - 001000) is printed.
For plastic cards the numbering is optionally available as a raised embossing in silver or via thermal transfer print in black. For the thermal transfer print we use the font “Arial bold” in 10 pt. The raised embossing is finished with the font “OCR-B” in 10 pt. The embossing is reversed on the back of the card.

A real treat for the eyes are special finishes, which do not only improve the appearance, but also the feel of your print products. Highlight a specific detail or your whole design with the help of different techniques and transform your advertisements into real eye-catchers!
- UV varnish: Surfaces finished with UV varnish are smooth to the touch, like the surface of a mirror. The high-quality gloss provides additional attention and strengthens at the same time the colour on the applied areas. UV varnish can be used partially or for the whole design. Through this varnish two senses are addressed at once - the sight and touch. Consequently, your message will perfectly remain in the minds of your customers.
- 3D varnish: This partial UV varnish is applied in a much thicker layer than the usual UV varnish. It gives your images, texts or graphics a texture and three-dimensionality. Use papers with a grammage from 300 gsm for the best results. The varnished area should be at least 1 cm². For texts we recommend a font size of at least 12 pt. Positive lines with 3D varnish should be at least 3 pt.
- Hot foil: Finishes with hot foil transform your print products into real gems. Whether in silver, gold, copper or with hologram film film? The highly glossy effect of the characteristic metallic colour gives your paper (ideally offset papers or black card) an exclusive touch. Please add a full-tone colour for the design that you want to finish. During the production process the design will be highlighted in a glossy way through the application of the hot foil.
- Special colours: Even special colours in gold or silver can make your advertisement material shine. Then, the special colours are fixed with a dispersion varnish and with that permanently anchored on your print product.
- Letterpress printing: The single-sided deep embossing (letterpress printing) is available for numerous paper types. It gives your advertising material an additional great feel and can be used for individual image elements, graphics or text.

Hot foil stamping is a decorative finish in the printing process of a print product. High-gloss films are pressed through pressure and heat onto a print material. This way, designs and texts from a minimal line thickness of 3 pt (1.06 mm) are especially highlighted and give the print product a shiny appearance.
Embossed printing deforms the paper coating. The foil design can leave behind a slight impression on the reverse side.

For the partial varnish only a specific area, e.g. the logo is finished with a flat, smooth varnish and therefore highlights a design element through high gloss.
A 3D varnish emphasizes this remarkable effect once more. Partial designs and fonts are displayed in a three-dimensional way through the raised varnish layer, which makes your product feel vivid. The varnish texture especially comes into one’s own in large surface designs. Fine lines and elegant details can not be printed with such a high raised varnish layer, but still stand out more than unfinished areas. The stress at the varnished area increases when cutting, which results in a deformed paper line. The varnish design can leave behind a slight impression on the reverse side.

Lamination is part of the finishing options for print products. Lamination not only protects your printed products from dirt and wear, but it also feels great. Products with lamination are therefore suitable for the food service industry and for any advertising media that’s going to pass through a lot of hands. The additional film sheet can lead to deviations in the colour appearance. Compared to glossy lamination, which intensifies the colours and gives them a brilliant shine, the matt version leads to an optical reduction of the colour.

You have much to say and a simple flyer does not suffice? No problem. Folded leaflets with different fold types offer you enough space on many sides for all information. Your advertisement medium is at the same time compact enough to comfortably keep it in trouser pockets, jacket pockets or handbags. Your fold type depends on your desired application.
- Single fold: When a sheet of paper is folded once in the centre, the fold is called single fold. The fold creates a folded finished format with four pages.
- Gate fold: For the gate fold the outer sides of the paper sheet are folded towards the center without overlapping. This way, your advertisement product opens up like a double door.
- Cross fold: For the cross fold the sheet of paper is folded in an alternating way horizontally and vertically at a right angle. Your print product opens up like a classic newspaper.
- Roll fold: The roll fold paper sheet is folded parallel to each other in the same direction. The name comes from the ?rolling up? of the folded finished format.
- Z-fold: For the Z-fold, a type of trifold, the paper sheet is folded parallel to each other at equal distances. The fold alternates to the opposite direction after each fold.
- Special fold: May we suggest something special? Whether step fold, square fold, pyramid fold or artistically designed pocketplanner? Special folds are as diverse as their users. Reach out to our experts at FLYERALARM and they will consult you and give you expert advice.

When binding magazines using saddle stitching and loop binding, the paper’s thickness can cause so-called binding displacement. This causes the content pages of the magazine to “slip” ever further forward as the number of pages increases. In order to compensate a displacement of the layout to the outside, we scale the data slightly out of proportion.

Prints are mostly printed using offset printing.
The process standard offset print (PSO) is an industrial and standardised procedure for manufacturing printing products. Since 2007 the PSO is set in the ISO-12647-2 specification. With this PSO, the quality of offset print production can be ensured, from data creation to the finished product.
For print products in small print runs we also use digital printing. For Large Formats, give aways and textiles we offer numerous special printing and finishing processes.

At FLYERALARM we use numerous printing processes - depending on product type, material and a customer’s wish.
The sublimation printing (transfer print) is a printing process where water soluble inks are used, which are sublimed (vaporised) onto the blank material. This process is characterised by a high colour brilliance and high durability and is used in Large Formats like flags or in clothing.
During the photo-realistic digital transfer print your design is printed on a carrier foil, cut with a machine and pressed onto your custom textile. This makes colour gradients and photo prints possible.
The photo-realistic digital print process is used for textiles, if colour gradients to the exterior and if shadows are desired.
Screen print is primarily used for flat and shaped print products that are difficult to print. The printing ink is pressed through the openings of a screen onto the print product underneath. Much of our advertisement material is printed that way, but also textiles.
For embroidery your design is embroidered with polyester thread onto your custom textiles. Out of numerous yarns we use up to 12 colours per design.
The latex printing technology is an environmentally friendly printing process for wide format printing. The latex colours were created in accordance to ecological aspects and are excellent for indoor and outdoor use. They are water-based and odour-neutral and offer a uniquely natural, noteworthy image quality. The process is best suited for a range of printing media and is furthermore weather proof and fade-resistant depending on the material.
Laser engraving is often used for metals. The designs are burned into the material with a laser. We use it for high-quality writing tools, keyrings, vacuum flasks, USB flash drives and much more advertising material made from wood or metal.

The batch print process refers to the space-saving arrangement of as many print orders as possible on a single printing plate. Customers with the same print run and the same paper type will be placed on the same print sheet and processed in the same print job. This makes production significantly more resource-friendly and efficient. This way we can achieve an up to 70 % lower CO₂ emission compared to the traditional commercial printing. Of course it is also favourable for the price calculation.
